LATIMER NAMED BIG TEN OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana sophomore wide receiver Cody Latimer earned co-Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday morning. Latimer shared the award with Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez.

The honor is the first of Latimer’s career and the first for a Hoosier since quarterback Ben Chappell on Sept. 20, 2010.

Latimer collected his second career 100-yard game, both this season, with 113 yards to go along with a career-high tying seven receptions and a career-high three touchdowns in Indiana’s 24-21 victory over Iowa on Saturday. His 30-yarder with 10:58 remaining provided the game-winning score.

The Dayton, Ohio, native became the first Hoosier with three TD catches since Tandon Doss recorded three at Purdue on Nov. 27, 2010. The three receiving scores are tied for the second-most in school history (10 times), trailing only James Hardy’s four (Michigan State on Oct. 28, 2006).

Latimer owns a team-best 645 yards, is second with 39 catches and 4.3 per game (10th in Big Ten), and is second with five scores, which is tied for fifth in the Big Ten. He paces the Hoosiers with 16.5 yards per reception and an average of 71.7 yards per game, which ranks fourth in the Big Ten.

Looking for its thirdconsecutive Big Ten victory, the Hoosiers (4-5, 2-3 Big Ten) close out their home schedule with a Leaders Division showdown against Wisconsin (6-3, 3-2 Big Ten), on Saturday, Nov. 10. Kickoff is set for noon EST at Memorial Stadium(52,929; FieldTurf) and ESPN2 will broadcast the game.
