Indiana landed its ninth commitment at a big area of need late Sunday night, when Houston (Texas) Cypress Falls defensive tackle Jacobi Hunter announced on Twitter that he’d picked Indiana.
“Just verbally committed to Indiana University!!” Hunter wrote on his Twitter account. “Hoosier Nation baby!!!!!”
Hunter is a two-star prospect, according to 247Sports, and a three-star prospect per the 247Composite. He picked Indiana over Baylor. Texas and Texas A&M were among those schools also expressing interest.
Indiana has been targeting defensive tackles as a position of need in 2013, with three players graduating from that spot on the depth chart after this season. Hunter attended a one-day camp in Bloomington in June, where he picked up his offer and spent time working one on one with defensive tackles coach Mark Hagen.
“It was really nice. I enjoyed the proximity of everything,” Hunter told InsideIndiana.com soon after the visit. “Everything was together. My mom really loved it. If my mom loves it, I love it.”
Last season at Cypress Falls, Hunter posted 66 tackles and six sacks. InsideIndiana.com will have more on this developing story.
