This weekend in Indianapolis, the NSSFA/Indy Summer High School Shoot-out will pit some of the top teams in the area against one another in summer league competition.
The event will also include several Indiana commitments and targets, across several classes. Here’s a look at when and where you can catch those prospects in pool play action Saturday.
Trey Lyles — Indianapolis Arsenal Tech*
Sat., 9 a.m. — Carmel Main Gym
Sat., 12:45 p.m. — Carmel Auxiliary Gym+
Sat., 3:15 p.m. — Carmel Fieldhouse, Court 4
+ cross-pool game
The asterisk up there is to bring attention to the fact that Lyles is probably going to sit this weekend out, having just concluded his time with the Canadian Junior National Team. Still, we’ll include him, just in case.
Sam Logwood — Lawrence North
Sat., 10:15 a.m. — North Central South 2 Gym
Sat., 3:15 p.m. — North Central South 1 Gym
Sat., 5:45 p.m. — North Central Main Gym
Logwood has had an excellent summer with Eric Gordon All-Stars. He’s visited Indiana before, and he’s a player whose stock has been rising steadily since the start of the spring.
Eron Gordon, Perry Poindexter — North Central
Sat., 9 a.m. — North Central Main Gym
Sat., 3:15 p.m. — North Central Main Gym
Sat., 7 p.m. — North Central Main Gym (vs. Evansville Harrison)
This will be Eron Gordon’s first shootout with his high school team, though his recruitment is already well on its way. Gordon could be the next great guard to come through North Central, with Patrick Ingram and Ronnie Johnson now headed to college.
Derrik Smits — Zionsville
Sat., 9 a.m. — Warren Central Fieldhouse 3A
Sat., 3:15 p.m. — Warren Central Fieldhouse 3A
Sat., 5:45 p.m. — Warren Central Fieldhouse 2A
Everett Duncan, Stanley Duncan — Evansville Harrison
Sat., 12:45 p.m. — North Central South 1 Gym
Sat., 4:30 p.m. — North Central Main Gym
Sat., 7 p.m. — North Central Main Gym (vs. North Central)
The Duncan twins have enjoyed a strong spring with Indiana Elite Team Indiana. Their recruitments are still each relatively undeveloped.
Cathedral — Collin Hartman, Jalen Coleman
Sat., 8 a.m. — North Central Main Gym
Sat., 10:15 a.m. — North Central Main Gym
Sat., 5:45 p.m. — North Central South 1 Gym (vs. Columbus North)
Though they lose Saint Louis signee Jared Drew, the Irish are an early favorite as a state title contender in 2012-13. The Irish return plenty of talent, led by the likes of Hartman, Coleman and point guard Mo Evans.
Columbus North — Josh Speidel
Sat., 10:15 a.m. — North Central South 1 Gym
Sat., 2 p.m. — North Central Main Gym
Sat., 5:45 a.m. — North Central South 1 Gym (vs. Cathedral)
Speidel is still developing as a post product, but as a rising sophomore, he has plenty of time. He visited IU late last year.
Warren Central — Devin Davis, Gary Bonds*
Sat., 8.am. — Warren Central Fieldhouse 1A
Sat., 10:15 a.m. — Warren Central Main
Sat., 4:30 p.m. — Warren Central Main
Bonds also has an asterisk, since it’s not clear whether he’s joined his new team or not. Jim Reamer, his AAU coach, tweeted recently that the 2015 wing/forward would be transferring to Warren Central for the coming season. Davis continues a strong spring, one that’s seen him return to health and top form.
Michigan City Marquette Catholic — Ryan Fazekas
Sat., 12:45 p.m. — Warren Central Fieldhouse 2A
Sat., 3:15 p.m. — Warren Central Fieldhouse 2B
Sat., 7 p.m. — Warren Central Main Gym
Fazekas is a rising star in the 2015 class, a talented shooter with a 6-foot-7 frame. He has plenty of IU interest at the moment, though no offer.
East Chicago Central — [tag linked="true" key="757318" url="http://247sports.com/Player/Hyron-Edwards-20229"]Hyron Edwards[/tag*]
Sat., 12:45 p.m. — Warren Central Main
Sat., 4:30 p.m. — Warren Central Fieldhouse 1A
Sat., 7 p.m. — Warren Central Fieldhouse 2A
Edwards is now a name quite familiar to IU fans, after picking up an offer and plenty of new interest in the spring. He recently took a visit to Illinois, one of several Big Ten schools recruiting him at the moment.
He has an asterisk next to his name, because an injury might keep him out of the action.
