Indiana in the Pros

Indiana Hoosiers

Indiana has several active alumni in the NFL, and the ranks of former Hoosiers playing professionally has swelled this season, with the addition of Marcus Thigpen to the Miami Dolphins. Each week, InsideIndiana.com will run down how each former Hoosier fared in the previous weekend.

James Brewer — offensive lineman, New York Giants

Brewer did not play in the Giants’ 41-34 win against Tampa Bay this past weekend. The Giants (1-1) next play at Carolina, at 8:20 p.m. Thursday.

Tandon Doss — wide receiver, Baltimore Ravens

Doss grabbed one pass for six yards, his first career catch in the NFL, in the Ravens’ 24-23 loss to Philadelphia. Baltimore (1-1) next host New England, at 8:20 p.m. Sunday.

Tracy Porter — cornerback/nickel back, Denver Broncos

Porter put up three tackles and a pass defended in the Broncos’ 27-21 Monday night loss to Atlanta. On the season, Porter has 11 tackles, six passes defended and one interception, which he returned for a touchdown. Denver (1-1) next hosts Houston, at 4:25 p.m. Sunday.

Courtney Roby — wide receiver, New Orleans Saints

Roby grabbed one pass for nine yards in the Saints’ 35-27 loss to Carolina last weekend. It was his first catch of the season, and he also returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in a Week 1 loss to Washington. New Orleans (0-2) next hosts Kansas City at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Roger Saffold — offensive tackle, St. Louis Rams

After recovering quickly from a milder-than-originally-believed neck injury, Saffold suffered an MCL sprain in the Rams’ 31-28 win this past weekend. More from ESPN.com, including comments from St. Louis coach Jeff Fisher:

"He's going to miss a number of weeks. How many weeks, I can't speculate now," Fisher said. "He's got a pretty good attitude about it. He's happy with the news that we got as a result of the MRI."

Saffold was hurt advancing a fumble in the first quarter Sunday in the Rams' 31-28 victory over the Redskins. He was a surprise starter after being hospitalized with a neck strain in Detroit after the opener and listed as questionable prior to the game.

The Rams (1-1) travel to Chicago next weekend for a 1 p.m. Sunday kickoff.

Marcus Thigpen — running back/kick returner, Miami Dolphins

Thigpen returned five punts for 74 yards in the Dolphins’ 35-13 win against Oakland. On the season, Thigpen has 287 combined kick and punt return yards, and he took one punt back 72 yards for a touchdown. Miami (1-1) hosts the Jets on Sunday, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
