Well if we don't get all of them can we please get just one? I mean damn. Hell just one.
"Coming home, It's Indiana"
This class has been disappointing thus far. 2 years ago it seemed like we were looking great with 5-10 top 30 kids in the mix. The list keeps getting smaller. The different between a 40 and 60 in rankins isn't that big but the elite normally have elite talent. I am not super worried about the class because I know coach has pulled some good classes out but to say I am not disappointed would be a lie as to how the class has turned out so far.
Gotta wonder how this class would have turned out if Trey's dad wasn't so shady. JL would have most likely joined his AAU teammates at IU and we would have a top 3 class already.
It would be 4 because we have Blackmon as well
Getting top recruits for next year's class was always going to be difficult because of the huge class we have coming in this year. The guys we are missing out on are guys that don't want to face the possibility that they could be bench players for 3 years while waiting for this year's class to graduate.
It's not guaranteed that they would be bench players, but it's something they have to take into consideration as a possibility.
Wish we could get some momentum with the cruits...seems like it has been a long while since any good news came our way on recruiting
Agree js. If exum does come here and one if the other top 50 kids we are on with some size I think we will be okay. Just haven't had a commit in a while and it seems like we've been whiffing a lot lol. I have faith in coach and I am sure he knows how he sits with recruits so there is no sense worrying but it just seems like blow after blow.
It's still early everyone. Very good possiblity we get both Exum and Goodluck. Not a bad class with those two and Blackmon. Heck that is a pretty AWESOME class. We will be just fine without JaQuan, Trey, and Pinson. I would have loved to have Pinson, but it was going to be hard to get him away from the coast.
I know we are on a little slump, I guess, in recruiting, but this class is still going to be very good! If we land the other two I mentioned, them that team is looking pretty awesome! We will be just fine guys and gals!
Indiana leads the Big Ten in NCAA titles (five), wins (64) and appearances (37).
Since you included Harris and Teague, I'll point out that you forgot Zeller and Yogi. They're not all escaping.
Plus there are always cases like Lyles that unless we decide to go back to the Sampson era, we're not getting them. Period.
Well that sucks.
I was counting Blackmon, and it'd be a 3 man class.
one of Turner or Goodluck

Anyone viewing this objectively saw this coming. I am absolutely shocked how early he committed though. I was dead wrong on the timing. The good news is, this gives CTC time to adjust his recruiting priorities. I wish the kid the best. I hope Pitino can help JL along the maturation process. The kid will be an excellent collegiate player.

Blackmon is in that class, hardly disappointing.
Does this eliminate Louisville for Exum? I know they were recruiting him pretty hard, but you would think that having Lyle would take them out of the running...
I'll take Blackmon every day over Lyle and twice on Sunday.

Wondered the same thing. I would imagine so. Seems like it basically comes down to IU or the NBA for Exum
The only thing surprising about this, as some have alluded to, is the timing. Tennessee was rumored to have made some significant gain with IU behind in third. Guess when you know you know....
Good observation. What's getting overlooked here is that IU and Ville were the schools most heavily recruiting both Lyle and Exum, and one getting one puts the other in good position, with the other. IU is now in in the clear lead for Exum. Doesn't mean that he won't go pro or that another school or two won't step out in front, but Exum already has been high on IU, and this development if anything strengthens our position with him.

You're crazy if you see what we missed out on in this class and not be disappointed.
Blackmon is good.
Blackmon, Lyles, Lyle & Pinson is better.
Then color me crazy. We have 2 slots for '14 and one of them is filled by Blackmon. I, unlike many others, do not see Vonleh leaving after 1 year nor do I care to see additional transfers. Yogi going pro is the most likely scenario that would open an additional slot. We lost Lyle long ago and after that I don't think we were ever really in the running for Lyles. Once again, color me Crazy.
Count me as another that is disappointed. Not so much about losing Lyle but in general with recruiting. I absolutely hate that we are missing on our top priorities. I highly highly doubt we get exum. I honestly feel like we won't. If we were lucky enough to get exum all my disappointment will be abated. Our momentum is in the can right now and I wish I could be a fly on the wall to see Creans reaction to this all. I guess we will have to see what Creans plan D is.
When its right its right and if it were then Exum would be committed already. He is waiting on the NBA and other high profile schools to offer. Something stinks there. If he was all aboard IU he would have been "sold" by now.
Chester, have the faith brother!
I think IU was always No. 2, though at the end obviously I think everybody was tied for fourth.
Lyle had a strong relationship with Cuonzo Martin, but I don't think he was ever realistically going anywhere but IU or Louisville.

I think he's still in on some plan A players.
Completely content with the outcome. Now we can all move on.
