Im sure you all have seen the video by now. Now that it has came out how long do you think it will be till he is fired? I just think there is too much media attention for him not to be fired IMO.
mkillian247 on twitter..... I say a lot of stuff you wont care about.
Well, hes fired
Just had to happen. This is the world, and once that gets out, you can't go back.
I'd be curious to know — though I don't think I'd get a straight answer now — whether Tim Pernetti's decision on the initial suspension came in part because he believed Rice deserved one chance to reform. I think Pernetti's biggest mistake, frankly, was not going from the gun assuming that eventually we would all find out about this stuff in its entirety.
Had to happen, end of the day.

I think you have to look at the AD possibly getting fired as well now.
I have no insider scoop on that, but if it does happen, it will probably take a little while. In situations like that, I think the preference is generally initial stability, with a change made a little while later. That said, Rutgers needs a basketball coach ASAP, so someone is going to have to make that hire. If Pernetti is a lame duck, you can't let it be him. Not fair to anyone.
Good point. Didnt really think about that.
AD has to go. Knew, or was capable of knowing everything that ha happened. While there was some punishment, clearly not enough
Sounds as if the AD is safe for now. Some are pushing for the President to resign over his comments according to ESPN
What a difference a couple days make. The AD is out and ESPN reporting that the President is going to be out.
Do you guys agree?
There have been several players, and other sports figures, backing the coach saying it wasn't as bad as the video showed. Even Chipper Jones backed the coach and said he was treated worse than that.
Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinion on what crosses the line in a situation like this.
I think that, particularly in this age of instant, widespread news, you just can't live with something like that. I don't think the treatment of players is acceptable (and I got smacked and screamed at plenty playing football), and I don't think you can recruit effectively when that kind of contrarian evidence is right there at a kid's fingertips.
As for Pernetti — I pity him somewhat, although I don't necessarily empathize with him. I have to think at some level, he believed Rice deserved another chance, and he tried to give him that. But this is the world, and you had to assume that video was going to get out. Worst mistake for all parties involved was not acting from the beginning like the worst possible scenario could eventually play out (believe it was SI's Andy Staples who put it that way, and I totally agree).
Big, big hire coming for Rutgers, with the Big Ten move looming.
Saw where they will go after Ben Howland. That would be a great hire IMO.
Would be huge. He'd fit the conference perfectly, so long as he can recruit the EC.
