Huh boy. It appears Derrick Nix has been arrested. Link is below, but it's drug-related.
Further, Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal obtained this statement, from Tom Izzo:
"Based on the information we have received, Derrick Nix has been suspended indefinitely from our basketball team, and his future with our program is uncertain. He made an irresponsible decision that has put his future with our program in serious jeopardy."
Certainly bodes well for Indiana's Big Ten chances in 2013, but in the short-term, it's always sad to see a young man make a mistake of this magnitude. As I said, huh boy.

Michigan State center Derrick Nix was arrested Monday night in East Lansing, Mich., for allegedly operating a vehicle with the presence of drugs and marijuana possession, the Lansing State-Journal reported. Nix has yet to be arraigned and was still in jail as of noon ET, the paper reports.

Have to feel for Nix. This is a guy who was nearly off the team a few years back because he wasn't getting in shape, following Izzo's lead, skirting team rules, etc. Seemed like he'd gotten back on track and had a solid junior season that got him poised for filling Draymond Green's leadership role in the year to come. Unfortunate for him.

Definitely. I think Nix is a guy who's gotten a fair amount of chances, but it's always tough to see this anyway.
