  • Once again, Indiana finds itself outplaying an inferior opponent but not gaining control of the game. If the Hoosiers were hitting their layups, they'd be up 15 right now. As it is, the lead is six with Melsahn Basabe going to the free-throw line to shoot an and-1.

    20-14 IU, 3:37 left.

  • Watford doesn't seem to have his head in this game. He's made a couple less than intelligent plays lately.

  • An ugly half ends, just like all others do. Iowa scored 14 points and made no free throws or 3-pointers. Indiana shot a big zero from behind the arc and hit just 10-of-17 free throws, but the Hoosiers got themselves together for a small 6-0 run at the end of the first half to take a 12-point lead into the break.

Zeller leads the Hoosiers with nine points. Indiana needs to get more assertive and, without being too simplistic, make some of the easy ones they've missed, because Iowa is ripe for the blowing out tonight.

26-14 at the half, IU leads.

  • IU leads by 12 at halftime, but based on how IU's defense and Iowa's offense have played, it could be much higher. IU has forced 14 turnovers while holding Iowa to 7-for-24 (29.2 percent) from the floor.

IU, however, is shooting an even lower percentage (8-for-28, good for 28.6 percent), and hasn't connected on a single three-pointer yet. Once those shots start falling for IU, that lead might really stretch out. Of course, I was expecting that to happen at some point in the first half, but it never did. Hulls and Watford are a combined 0-for-7 from the floor.

Zeller leads all scorers with nine points, and Basabe has six for Iowa.

  • Second half is a go, and Woodbury opens with a nice 1-2 move for an easy dunk.

  • Indiana' offense devolving into too much of Yogi Ferrell just running around with the ball, as it did in the second half against Minnesota.

  • Indiana is sending out the warning signs of losses gone by this season — poor shooting, unfocused, sloppy offensive play and the inability to really take control of the game.

Hoosiers up 34-23 at the under-16 timeout, as both teams are mercifully a little bit more clinical from the firt this half. Victor Oladipo just committed his third foul.

  • IU's also missing free throws quite a bit tonight. Zeller, for example, has missed four tonight. He hasn't missed four or more in a game since Jan. 7 against Penn State (when he missed four). As a team, IU has made just 13 of its 22 free throws tonight.

  • Zeller's coming alive. Already has six points this half, and he's at a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Shooting just 5-of-9 from the free-throw line though. Make it 5-of-10, as he misses a second and-1 attempt.

Zeller gets a breather, after a strong open to the second half.

  • And now Iowa is in the bonus at the under-12 timeout. Hoosiers have taken a little bit more control here, up 14 with 11:44 to play. Free throws would be an easy way back in for the Hawkeyes, although tonight's visitors have hit just 2-of-7 attempts from that particular spot on the floor tonight.

  • Adam Woodbury has four fouls. Would have done himself a favor just standing his ground on Zeller's drive.

  • And now Victor Oladipo has four fouls. The officiating tonight has been, uh, hard to predict.

  • Watford's parent were interviewed on BTN tonight. They have a 1,024 mile round trip to each game, and they've only missed two games all year. Very impressive!

  • Sheehey goes right at Iowa's 3-2 zone, draws Basabe's fourth foul and Iowa's 10th on a floater in the lane. Misses the first.

  • Longest. Game. Ever.

  • Under-8 timeout finds Indiana up 16. This game no longer possesses any rhythm (or a working soul) because of the FORTY ONE fouls called. 41. This game is over the hill.

Just to be clear: IU is up 15 now. That was just a statement of desperate sadness.

  • Hulls finds the bottom of the hoop for the first time tonight, as he makes a pair of free throws. He has missed all four three-pointers and all six field goals.

  • Small Iowa run brings Iowa within 12, and Fran McCaffrey calls a timeout. Again, there's just been no rhythm or flow to this game at all. The foul tally is at 46, and Iowa hasn't even started fouling to extend the game yet. Or maybe it has ... panic

  • Well, Marble woke up and now we have a game at the last media timeout. Indiana up 12 with Iowa about to go to the line for two shots. Indiana has to get more out of these last few possessions. Here's where the Hoosiers have struggled this season when they've lost — managing crucial possessions down the stretch. Let's see if they can tonight.
