Just a few scattered thoughts:
*Ron Patterson was easily the best of the three 2012 signees playing Monday night. He was active and energetic, and his shot was falling. His final stat line — 6-of-9, 14 points, four rebounds, three assists — belies how big of an impact he had on the game. Yogi Ferrell said afterward that the Senior team's energy changed when Patterson and Iowa signee Patrick Ingram checked into the game.
*Patterson's shot was as smooth and regular as I think I've ever seen it. He said one of his focuses this summer has been and will continue to be getting that more consistent.
*Jeremy Hollowell didn't have his best game statistically, but he made some really, really nice passes. In the last year, I think he's grown a lot with regard to his passing ability, something that seems to stem at least in part from learning how to play on the wing and drive, and also post up. He's good passing out of the post-up, and good dishing the ball around the rim as well.
*Six turnovers to one assist obviously isn't Yogi Ferrell's usual performance. He admitted after the game that he was forcing some things Monday. In all honesty, Ferrell is a player who thrives off chemistry and timing, two things that aren't likely to be present in an all-star setting. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
*Devin Davis looked very, very good. He was active and assertive, and he looked really strong. In essence, he was playing like the prospect he is when he's healthy. The difference is night-and-day, and it was apparent on Monday night in Seymour. His 14-point, 13-rebound performance was indicative of his night overall.
*Collin Hartman admittedly struggled somewhat Monday. He shot 2-of-8 from the field, and he took two or three turnaround jumpers off post-ups that he didn't necessarily look all that comfortable taking. He rallied with a stronger second half, bringing more energy at the defensive end in particular. He still looks a little bit caught between being a wing and being a forward that can drift to the 3-point line, but Monday night, that was also probably a factor of his team's relative lack of post depth.
*It is remarkable, actually, to look at these two groups and not see many elite post players. I know they don't grow on trees, but between them, these two teams don't have any true post stars. Players like Davis, Hollowell and DeJuan Marrero can go inside, but it's not the majority of their game at all.
*Of course that said, there's guard depth everywhere, on both teams. Ferrell, Patterson, Gary Harris, Ingram, Ronnie Johnson and Glenn Robinson III are just a few for the seniors, and Zavier Turner, Zak Irvin and Demetrius Jackson are all strong backcourt options for the Juniors as well. Just some thoughts.
Final stats below:
Yogi Ferrell
5-of-11 shooting, 1-of-3 from 3-point range, 11 points, seven rebounds, six turnovers, one assist, one steal
Ron Patterson
6-of-9 shooting, 2-of-4 from 3-point range, 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, one turnover
Jeremy Hollowell
1-of-7 shooting, 1-of-2 from 3-point range, 2-of-4 from the free-throw line, five points, four rebounds, four assists, one block
Devin Davis
6-of-14 shooting, 2-of-4 from the free-throw line, 14 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, two turnovers, two blocks
Collin Hartman
2-of-8 shooting, 0-of-1 from behind the arc, 1-of-1 from the free-throw line, five points, one rebound, one assist, one block, two steals

Seems like Hartman is really struggling. And, who needs in-state posts when we have Fischer and (hopefully) Anya!
Haha not saying IU needs in-state posts. Just interesting that there's a lack of real post depth in Indiana in 2012 and 2013.
And with Hartman, it really seems like he's struggling to sort of decide where and how to play sometimes. He doesn't seem settled between playing in the post or being on the wing. Maybe he will be able to grow both sides of his game in time. It will be interesting to watch how he develops this summer and into the fall of his senior year.
