  • Ewald misses what looked like a 50-yard field goal, but the goal post things in here are about 4-5 yards back, so it would have been good on, you know, a normal field.

  • Coffman just made an exceptional play, using a pump fake to free up Kofi Hughes for a 35-yard gain down the middle. We're guestimating most of these yardages.

  • But he can't finish things off, and Ewald kicks another field goal. I'm going to call him 5-for-5 today, since the one miss was long enough in real football.

  • It's now 16-9 Cream, by the way.

  • Also, we are stationed behind the end zone where the teams are driving. A great vantage point for watching plays develop.

  • are they allowing the QB's to take contact?

  • Some thoughts on today as we wind toward the end:

    * Both quarterbacks looked solid, but Coffman probably moreso. He made a lot of different kinds of throws and kept drives moving well.

    * Ted Bolser was strong in the passing game, making a number of catches in traffic. Nothing outstanding, just really solid. Everything a tight end ought to be.

    * Isaiah Roundtree and Stephen Houston both did some nice things from running back. Houston had one really nasty hesitation move that basically just left Ryan Thompson falling over.

    * The tackling has been pretty solid today overall. That was an emphasis this spring, and guys looked stronger and crisper in that regard today.

    * Indiana had most of its success on the ground off quarterback scrambles and outside plays. The interior defensive line stuffed a lot of plays up at or near the line of scrimmage.

    * Ewald just missed his first real field goal of the day. Now 4-of-6 on the day, 5-of-6 in real football time.

    * Coffman does get passes tipped every once in awhile. He and Roberson are 6-foot-2 and 6-foot respectively. Nate Sudfeld is 6-foot-5 or more. Stay tuned on that.

    * Bobby Richardson, unsurprisingly, made some nice plays from the defensive end position, but since we aren't letting QBs get hit (for obvious reasons), sacks were basically just plays blown dead when it looked like one was about to happen.

    * Lawrence Barnett made a few nice plays on the ball before we went inside. I've not seen him since, but that's probably down to the fact that I have no real idea what's going on anymore.

    * Don't snooze on Coffman's scrambling ability. He's not Roberson fast, but he's not Chappell slow either.

I'll try to have some more after this is all over. Cream driving, up seven, Coffman at the controls.

No, although Coffman did just slide. For posterity, I suppose.

  • And Ewald hits what was like a 50-, 51-yard field goal. Again, artificially enhanced by the backed-up "goalposts," but that one goes. 6-of-7 now.

  • And Isaiah Roundtree just ripped off a really, really long run, maybe 70 yards (I honestly can't tell) to bring the Crimson back to within four. Ewald hits the field goal, so it's 19-16 now. I think the twos are gonna get a chance to win the game, based on Kevin Wilson's yelling.

Buck Suhr calls it a 63-yarder. He's making it up, but also giving clarity and comfort to Dustin Dopirak's life.

  • Peyton Eckert, I'm fairly sure, has not played at all today. Not sure why. Will try to find out.

  • 4thand-10 from the something yard-line, and it's last-gasp time for the Crimson.

  • A short pass to D'Angelo Roberts comes up short, and the Cream wins, 19-16. What a game.

    More later.
