    "If we’d have let it ride the way it ws, we’d have had three games in three weeks, and that’s just not what you want to do," Crean said. "You’ve got to have some type of rhythm."

  • Crean asked about play where Meyers Leonard appeared to shove Cody Zeller, caller says he doesn't like that.

    "I don’t think anybody likes to see that. That play in particular we asked to have reviewed," Crean said. "We just want to continue to get to the foul line, and I think our guys are doing a pretty good job right now of adjusting to how the game is being played."

  • Asked about how he and his staff approach recruiting eight and ninth graders, Crean says:

    "Our situation is one where you can embrace the recruiting at a young age or you can shy away from it. If you shy away from it, you’re gonna be behind. We embrace it. ... I think what happens is you really can start to formulate what they’re gonna need — it’s another voice academically. ... We think recruiting at a young age can be really used the right way, can help bridge some gaps, and at the same time it helps you see how they grow and how they respond."

  • The questions have, lately, become either very specific or rather nonsensical. Crean asked about deflections in a man defense vs. a zone. He says Indiana wants to mix defenses, pick-and-roll coverages, etc., but that the most important thing no matter what is good focus and positioning.
