Like Oregon State, Indiana gets the leadoff man on and doesn't score. Chris Sujka, getting the start in right, walked and eventually got picked off. It took about a dozen throws over, but Boyd got him. Sujka did an admirable job for a leadoff guy, though...saw a lot of pitches and saw a variety of pickoff moves from Boyd so his teammates have a better idea of what to expect.

If you do it every time it won't get called. Thats how it works.
That's a prime example of an area in which Slegers needs to grow: He doesn't really have an out pitch right now.

Got away with one there. Great pitch though.
close call.... We get the slow motion repay to help us make the call though
mkillian247 on twitter..... I say a lot of stuff you wont care about.
that was scary
So I missed Casey Smith being in right, and Chris Sujka being in left. I can't read, it seems.
Anyway, he holds onto a tough catch as he collides with Chad Clark. No one seems the worse for wear. Inning over, another Beaver stranded. Slegers has thrown 21 pitches out of 34 for strikes.
Well nothing going offensively so far.
Breaking balls giving IU fits here at the CWS. That's a nasty backdoor breaking ball to righties and breaking away from lefties. Have to imagine that IU will be a little better the second time through the order, but they haven't been able to make the adjustment in the first couple games.
Going to need to learn how to work with the curve if IU expects to do anything tonight.
Yup. Without being overly fatalistic, I think it's fair to say Indiana's Omaha stay will end tonight without better plate approaches.
Twice, Smith has elected to have righthanded Aaron Slegers intentionally walk a righty to get to a lefty. Both times, it has worked. Something about Dylan Davis in that situation just makes IU nervous, I suppose.
Well I went to go load the dishwasher and missed the Beavers batting. Guess that's a good thing it went quick though.
Boyd's gonna keep throwing that curve until somebody starts hitting it, and then he can sneak fastballs through because of it.
And your point proven
This is sad. Clark was sitting curve that entire AB.
yea that was horrible
You have to make them pay for 2 out walks
Unbelievable. It really is a balk every time. Right leg dipping towards home.
You have to get the ball in play first...or not get picked off, I suppose. Cureton becomes the second victim of Boyd's pickoff move. Through three, Boyd has (kind of) faced the minimum and has six strikeouts.
That one was very obvious IMO
That was perfectly set up
great job to only allow 1 run out of that.
I have been given no reason to believe IU can score one run on Boyd.
Sadly, I agree
