The freshman left-hander is 5-0 with a 1.80 ERA this season. In his last four appearances, he has three wins and a save, and he picked up a save and a win at Florida State last weekend.
Indiana still has starters Aaron Slegers and Kyle Hart in reserve as well, and its bullpen is fresh, following Joey DeNato's complete game win against Louisville on Saturday night.

Wanted to expound upon a point I just made on Twitter:
When we spoke to Tracy Smith and his players before this season, he spoke quite highly of Coursen-Carr. At that time (and this was well before the start of the season), Smith said Coursen-Carr was probably throwing as well as any pitcher on staff, but that experience probably meant he'd be pushed out of the weekend staff, because IU didn't want a weekend three comprised entirely of lefties.
And while a lot of people, myself included, have pointed out that Coursen-Carr sometimes struggles to throw strikes, his results in the postseason — Big Ten Tournament title game win, regional title game win, super regional clincher win — are undeniable.
All of that said, most freshmen turn into freshmen at some point ...
Mississippi State will start Trevor Fitts (0-0, 2.42 ERA in 26 1/3 innings) tonight. Expect to see a lot of the bullpen, and in particular Chad Girodo. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Bulldogs are putting this game on their bullpen.
Basically, Mississippi State is going to try and win this game from the start with its bullpen, and not even leave it to a regular starter.
Interesting move on both parts.
mkillian247 on twitter..... I say a lot of stuff you wont care about.
Really would have thought they would go with Slegers tonight. Any idea as to the reasoning?
Good Luck tonight fellas, I am a Hoosier fan until the end of next week!
I think the lefty match-up was a good one in IU's mind, and not starting Slegers gives you more veteran options in the event of a loss than it would if you lost him and the game tonight.
