Indiana picks up a cornerback

Just hours after IU lost a commitment when defensive tackle Jacobi Hunter's scholarship was pulled, the Hoosiers gained another.

Nigel Tribune, a Lakeland (Fla.) cornerback who was previously committed to Iowa State, made the call in favor of Indiana today, he confirmed to Inside Indiana.

Tribune took his official visit to IU the weekend of Jan. 11 and then took his final visit to Iowa State this past weekend. After his IU visit, he expressed confidence for the coming years in Bloomington based on the words of cornerbacks coach Brandon Shelby, who had primarily recruited him.

“I see them being a very good team in the future,” Tribune said after his IU visit. “Coach Shelby tells me this is the best recruiting class in school history.”

After making the decision Friday, he becomes the second true cornerback along with Georgia cornerback Noel Padmore. Fellow Georgian Rashard Fant will also likely see time at cornerback. He is the 21st overall commits to the 2013 class.
